An incident that impacted my life in a really positive way. Hmmmm… let me take a stab at this.

Once upon a time, when I was but a lad, I was looking for a place to stay. I was working as a lowly burglar alarm installer with irregular hours and I couldn’t afford much. Through a friend of a friend, I learned that a distant acquaintance of mine had a room for rent in her condo. I went to talk to her and she gladly took me in.

I had once shared a condo with her both her ex-boyfriend and her current boyfriend. I realized I could have made the move on her, but didn’t. The current boyfriend was still a friend of mine. They eventually broke up and the way was clear – but I still didn’t. She just didn’t feel like a good fit for me. Could have been a short fling but we didn’t. We kept it platonic.

It was a very nice place to rent. She helped me get into Lockheed as a non-degreed junior electrical engineer where she was a software engineer. (Said she wanted to make sure I could pay my rent.) It also helped that she and I were both at home nudists, so there was no clothing to be found unless we had company. I even had my first birthday suit party there. One fine day I met my future wife (her cousin) there at a party and that was that.

So, I’d say that renting that room had a pretty positive impact on me.

Now comes the hard part. Who to nominate? Alas, I couldn’t narrow it down to only ten!
