Is anyone else as jazzed as I am that a new member of the Monogatari franchise has arrived? Zoku started showing in theaters in Japan on Nov. 10. The story is set just after graduation. It will eventually be released for television as a 6 episode series, Araragi Mirror, parts 1 thru 6.

In a nutshell the plot is Araragi Through the Looking Glass. Once through the mirror, everything is different, the same physical rules don’t always apply, and logic from his prior side of the mirror doesn’t seem to apply much either. It seems rather obviously to have been inspired by Lewis Carrol.

Everything I have seen in the previews and trailers indicate fantastic art quality and attractively drawn characters. If looking at well done drawings of really pretty girls is your thing, you will do very well.

I’m not going to analyze the plot since I haven’t seen it yet. I’m not even sure how closely it follows the manga. If you really want to know, there are already complete plot summaries in various wikis.

If this goes over really well I am hoping some of the other Monogatari manga arcs that have been bypassed may be considered for their own shows.
