Oh wow. This is the commercial of my dreams!
My previous favorite was the 1984 Apple Macintosh commercial with an obvious reference to Orwell’s dystopian classic, “1984.” Many professionals think it was the finest television commercial ever made.
Apple seems to have a penchant for interesting ads.
But this ad for Smartwatches, aired in Iceland, has moved into first place. Prime-time, network television, no parental advisories. Poor abandoned phone now gets left at home alone.
It was inspired by a language-based pun. Apparently “watch” in Icelandic is the same word as is used for “disrobe.” The intent was the pun as well as showing how all you need is a smartwatch and nothing else. According to Nova Telecom…
With Nova Úrlausn (eSIM), the watch is all you need. Leave your phone at home!
Nova wants to draw attention to the importance of mental health and how to improve mental well-being. We encourage people to be aware of screen time, social media browsing, and watching TV. With the campaign, we are celebrating the body. We are all beautiful and we want people to feel good, exactly as they are. On social media, we are blasted with unrealistic beauty and body standards – not the reality. Excessive use of social media can affect our self-image and Úrlausn (eSIM) is a great way to spend less time in front of the screen.
We really need to talk about self-love and respect for our bodies. We come in all possible shapes and sizes. Here is our new ad in all its glory. Nothing to hide. Nothing to be ashamed of. Just the way we are.

Love the commercial! I saw a similar one, also from Iceland. for some other product. But yeah….. Could you imagine that here in the US? The again, Icelanders tend to lack the ‘prude & uptight’ gene so many Americans have.
I visited Iceland once in the late 90’s. I loved it. Book stores and swimming pools (2 of my favourite things) are open 24/7.

IIRC, most of the electrical and residential heat energy is natural geothermal.

The video is better than some because it gets it right that nudists come in all shapes and sizes.

I learned when I was a stripper that men just like women. Big girls, skinny girls, girls with big tits, girls with little tits, girls that looked exotic, girls that looked like “the girl next door”, tall girls, short girls – because we all worked for tips and drinks, quite often someone who had a marvelous, fun, sparkling personality would make far more money than the snotty stuck up girl who looked like a super model (you know, a clothes hanger). I’ve also noticed over time that women like big men, little men, skinny men, tall men, short men, and guys who look like actual dwarves (to me). The media tries to push this or that as the ideal body type, but the truth is real people like real people. I think overall we seem to finally be coming to realize that and accept any and all body types, as long as you’re healthy, as perfect. We’ve certainly progressed beyond the all women must look like Barbie (who is a physical impossibility). I love the commercial. Can’t imagine it ever being shown here LOL
