Inspiration from New Zealand TV channel One about people who garden wearing just their perspiration. (NSFW content ahead.)
There’s been pruning, potting, and baring all for National Nude Gardening Day.
Since this is in the southern hemisphere and the seasons are opposite, they celebrate on their Labour Day, the 28th of October. In the north, our Nude Gardening Day is on the first Saturday in May. Both fall under the larger celebration of World Naked Gardening Day.

Everyone needs something to look forward to. Even if it is something that seems silly or absurd to other people. This is the beginning of the naked season for me, daytime highs between the mid-60s and 90 F, foliage greening, and flowers blooming. And this year I may have both the time and resources to enjoy it. I’ve posted a couple of hikes already and expect to do a lot more. This Saturday is a trip to Deep Creek, a place I’ve been to many times before.
Next weekend on April 22nd, I’ll have my 65th birthday. I feel so fucking old when I write that! It is also Earth Day and the peak of the Lyrids meteor shower. On the 23rd, I’ll be getting my 2nd Moderna COVID Vaccination, so I will finally be free!
Spring is the time for the rebirth of optimism, right?
Soon after the shot, I’m celebrating with the Bare Burro 5K race and the Naked Beer Mile, out at Olive Dell – spending the weekend for one of my few visits to an organized club. Birthdays should always be celebrated in one’s birthday suit! I have plans for more hikes in areas I’ve never visited and I’m going to take up sailing lessons. Nude, of course!
Expect to be seeing a lot more of me. (Pun intended!) And no apologies for my nakedness. But if you don’t like nudity, please take heed of the NSFW warning such posts have.

Hope you had a super birthday. Never heard of naked gardening day but now I wanna do it. I think my neighbors would be a bit freaked out. Probably end up arrested. Sigh.

Don’t know your local laws. Usually only guys get cited while gals get sighted.

HHHH – no one wants to look at me naked anymore – not even me. Well, hubby, but I think he looks at me and sees the 30 year old athletic exotic dancer he married…

LOL! Nobody has a burning desire to see me naked either. (At least not in the last 20 years.) OTOH, I find judging someone because of how their body is shaped or their failure to hide the wear and tear of time and life to be rather odious.
It doesn’t matter to me because I’ve accepted myself. I don’t imagine what I look like through thru other people’s eyes and then imagining how they judge me. In reality they don’t care.
Worrying about what other people think about visuals is a losing proposition. I couldn’t be a nudist if I did and that would be very sad.

Very wise and wonderful reply and attitude. I’m judg-y about myself, I know. I did, of course, at some point have to judge that people no longer wanted to PAY to see me naked (although that probably would have been obvious in time) but yeah, I admit to some body judgement issues – ONLY in regard to MYSELF. I don’t mind wear and tear, scars and wrinkles. I do mind ALOT the 20 lbs I’ve put on not least because of looks, but because I don’t feel like my energetic athletic self. Working on it.

Belated Happy Birthday and I hope all goes well Friday with your 2nd jab. Funny, I was designated a ‘1A’ essential worker (tactile sign language interpreter for deaf-blind individuals) so I got my first shot in January. Here we are 3+ months later and none of the things (read: NAKED) I want to do have re-opened. I’m in metro NYC so our re-opening is going much more slowly than in most other places. I do have hopes for the summer, however….

Congrats on the upcoming birthday and that Second Poke, both of which you might be dreading a little bit, but it’s all good. We’re still kicking, and that’s all that matters… 😉

Don’t think they have a blof as such. There’s a facebook site;

Hi Fred: I used to live at Olive Dell, and started the Bare Burro 5k. I had the sign you showed made. By the way, Olive Dell is a great place to celebrate WNGD!
April 15, 2021 at 17:22
Yeah. Olive Dell is an occasional visit for me and not a regular thing. 200 mile round trip with $40 in gasoline and another $40 to walk thru the gate.
When I was working I could afford it but didn’t have the time. Now that I’m retired I have the time but I also have to pinch my pennies. I have a small pension starting in May and I’ll have more opprotunity then.
Besides, I have come to enjoy the solitude of the solo freehike. I bring my readers along later thru my blog.
