Checked the nest today and the chicks have flown. Mom and Pop are still hanging out nearby watching and calling. The youngsters are hiding in the trees nearby and staying quiet. Mom would be the two-tone bird and Pop would be the mostly white one.

Mourning doves can lay multiple clutches of eggs during a year. If I do not disturb the nest too badly, they may come back. I scatter a small amount of birdseed nearby where they can safely collect it without having t argue with the squirrels. The dogs can’t reach it, we keep the cat on a leash when we let him out and it isn’t visible from anywhere unless you are standing right next to it. It would seem a safe place to raise a family.
