You know I have to love this!

From the world of dance, we have “Les Indies Galantes” which translates into “The Amorous Indies.” The full opera consists of a prologue plus 4 acts. Each act is a separate story. This, in particular, is act one, “The Generous Turk,” in which a Turkish sultan known for his parsimony surprises everyone with his generosity. (You wouldn’t know this without Googling it.)

Don’t know about Generous Turks but the Garden of Eden references are obvious. Stick around and later in the opera it even gets funny.

I just watch the dance and listen to the vocalists as very beautiful instruments. Even operas sung in English are usually unintelligible to me.

The full opera/ballet can be found here.
